The New Orleans Saints selected seven prospects during this year's NFL draft. They addressed major needs on the defensive line, offensive line, as well as a couple of other depth spots. The seventh round is never the end of the line for prospects, though.

The Saints have thrived off getting useful talent in the undrafted free agency period that starts as soon as the draft ends.

The Saints grabbed a handful of intriguing players as UDFAs this year. Check out the class below.

New Orleans Saints 2023 undrafted free agents

  • Blake Grupe, K, Notre Dame
    • Grupe provides competition for veteran kicker Will Lutz.
  • Joel Wilson, TE, Central Michigan
    • After trading Adam Trautman, the Saints need tight end depth.
  • Anfernee Orji, LB, Vanderbilt
    • Orji was a fantastic run defender at Vandy and could absolutely make the roster as a 4th/5th linebacker/special teams player.
  • Shaquan Davis, WR, South Carolina State
    • Davis is an impressive athlete who will compete for a deep depth chart spot at wideout.
  • Nick Anderson, LB, Tulane
    • Anderson is more of an pass-rushing edge player that could find a roster spot if he impresses in training camp.
  • Mark Evans II, OL, Arkansas-Pine Bluff
    • Evans II will compete with a couple of other young players as a depth OL.
  • Alex Pihlstrom, C, Illinois
    • Pihlstrom will attempt to grab the backup center job behind Erik McCoy.
  • Sarodorick Thompson, RB, Texas Tech
    • Thompson will have an uphill climb to a roster spot behind Jamaal Williams, Alvin Kamara, and Kendre Miller.
  • Lou Hedley, P, Miami
    • Hedley adds competition for punter Blake Gillikin.
  • Anthony Johnson, CB, Virginia
    • Johnson will try to lock down a secondary spot with a lot of veterans around him. Showed fun athleticism at Virginia.
  • Sy Barnett, WR, Davenport
    • Remember UDFA darling Rashid Shaheed? Similarly, Barnett is an explosive, quick return-type of wide receiver that will compete for a depth spot at WR.

The Saints added tons of competition for the roster in the UDFA phase. We will see who can make the roster by the start of the season. There will be opportunities for many young players.
