The biggest question surrounding the New Orleans Saints this preseason is whether or not running back Alvin Kamara will be suspended in 2022.
Kamara is facing a possible suspension due to an alleged assault that he was involved in this past February in Las Vegas during Pro-Bowl weekend.
ESPN's Adam Schefter appeared on air on Monday to discuss the latest happenings with Kamara and he offered some encouraging news for Saints fans.
Schefter doesn't think Kamara will be suspended this season. But that's not because the star running back is going to escape a suspension altogether — it's because the court date has been pushed back and Schefter doesn't think any discipline will happen this season.
"It's going to be a little while, it seems, before this legal case is settled," said Schefter.
"There's a real chance that the status of that case is not going to affect his availability this season. Now at some point and time, depending on what the investigation shows, yes he could be disciplined. But in terms of this season, it looks more and more unlikely that it's going to be this season…by the time there's resolution to it, this season may be well underway and Alvin Kamara may be on the field for the majority of it, if not all of this season."
That's good news for the Saints this season, but it still sounds like Kamara is eventually going to face a suspension — likely in 2023.
This could all change of course, but for now, it appears that New Orleans will have its best player on the field for possibly all 17 games this season.
