It is an offseason of change for the New Orleans Saints. Another assistant coaching update from around the NFL may push them to even more openings along their staff.

Of course, their next head coach will be in charge of hiring many of the team's assistants for his staff.

Update on defensive assistants

Joe Woods

Woods stepped in as the team's interim defensive coordinator once Dennis Allen was fired. He has been a long-time defensive assistant in the NFL, including time with the Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos, most notably,  previously.

According to Jeremy Fowler, Woods is headed to the Las Vegas Raiders to be a defensive assistant for Pete Carroll's new staff.

Pete Carroll and the Raiders front office just announced recently that Patrick Graham would remain as the team’s defensive play caller which would take Woods out of the discussion for that role. — SaintsWire

Marcus Robertson

Robertson is another experienced defensive assistant who has coached the secondary for the Saints recently. Both Robertson and Woods had plenty of focus in the secondary last season.

According to Matt Zenitz, Robertson has also emerged for a role on the Raiders' new coaching staff. He and Woods could both land with Vegas, as the latter has already joined that group.

The Saints have undergone a lot of staff changes so far this offseason, and more could be on the horizon. If Kellen Moore is hired as head coach  next week, he has reportedly already discussed some roles for new staff members around the NFL.

We will see if both Robertson and Woods land in Vegas anytime soon under Pete Carroll.
