Brandon Staley is a potential DC
According to multiple NFL insiders, the former Los Angeles Chargers head coach is a leading candidate for the defensive coordinator job alongside Moore in New Orleans.

Two names I've heard as possibilities at defensive coordinator are 49ers assistant coach Brandon Staley and Buccaneers outside linebackers coach George Edwards. Both have history with Moore — Staley hired Moore as his offensive coordinator with the Chargers in 2023, and Moore overlapped with Edwards in Dallas. — Jeremy Fowler
Staley is an intriguing candidate for more than one reason. Firstly, his stint as a head coach in LA did not go well. There was dissension in the locker room by the end of his time with the team, due to their struggles, and the defense was incredibly inconsistent.
Meanwhile, before that, he was looked at as a notable, young HC candidate when he coordinated the number one defense in the league with the Los Angeles Rams.
Accordingly, there is clear risk with Staley.
We've seen some great, and we've seen the flip-side of that coin, both, within the past four years while he's been a coach. He spent last season as an assistant with the San Francisco 49ers, but he was not a coordinator.
Keep in mind – Staley gave Moore a job in 2023 as his OC with the Chargers, too. That was the precursor to Moore joining the Eagles staff this past season, once Staley was fired as the HC in Los Angeles.
