The recent reports have been consistent. Nearly every insider around the NFL has relayed the concept that the next New Orleans Saints head coach will be Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

Regardless, the deal isn't done. The Eagles are practicing in New Orleans to prepare for Super Bowl LIX vs. the Kansas City Chiefs. For Moore, he certainly wants to get that win as another key piece to his head-coaching resumé.

According to Adam Schefter, there's a clear aspect to Moore's interest and New Orleans' pursuit of him that makes it simply why he'd want to jump p ship from Philly after the big game.

Kellen Moore's potential raise

Schefter discussed a potential, massive raise for Moore to become a head coach. He said that he will a chance to "probably triple his salary" as well as elevate to a HC position in the NFL.

"Kellen Moore is gonna have a chance to probably triple his salary and become a Head Coach..

Barring a setback he's gonna be the Head Coach of the New Orleans Saints"

— Adam Schefter

Accordingly, it is no shock that there is interest from him.

Not many coordinators get opportunities this early in their career to get HC opportunities. Moore is still just 36 years old.

Not to mention, consider now former Houston Texans OC Bobby Slowik. He had multiple head-coaching interviews during the 2024 cycle. He took none of them and returned to Houston. After a disappointing campaign this season, he was recently fired. The environment of coaching in the NFL is incredibly unpredictable.

Even with an uphill climb in New Orleans (aging roster, QB questions, salary cap issues), Moore has emerged as the leasing candidate, and that sentiment has not wavered over the past week.
