The NFL dropped an absolute bombshell on Friday afternoon. Usually, their official salary cap number for the offseason is revealed around the Scouting Combine. This year, it's different.

The 2024 NFL salary cap will be $255.4 million per team.

Accordingly, this heavily affects the offseason plans for the New Orleans Saints.

It's a massive $30M increase from last offseason. The jump is unfounded for the league, and it is great news for the Saints.

The 2024 salary cup number was expected to be between $223-$230 million. Now, that total has jumped a dramatic amount – due to increased media revenue and repayments of advanced funds by clubs, according to Ian Rapoport.

For the Saints, they now have less of a hole to climb out of to become cap compliant. At the time of the announcement, they are just over $40 million over the cap. That is manageable, and New Orleans will be able to create enough space to sign some impactful free agents if they choose to do so during this offseason.

Regardless, the latest NFL news is a game changer for the Saints this year.
