The New Orleans Saints got their starting quarterback in Derek Carr which was huge. However, reworking the deal of wide receiver Michael Thomas might be just as big.

Thomas got an incentive-laced one-year deal that's worth up to $15 million, and it's the best move of the offseason so far for the Saints according to Pro Football Focus.

After missing much of 2020 and all of 2021, Thomas was productive through the first three games of the 2022 season, averaging 1.64 yards per route run and catching 16 of the 17 catchable passes thrown his way. He’s still only 30 years old, so if he can stay healthy, the Saints have a reliable option to go along with Chris Olave who stood out as a rookie.

Thomas was very productive as a rookie in 2016 with 92 receptions for 1,137 yards and nine touchdowns. Then, he went Super Saiyan.

The former second-round pick then had three consecutive seasons with over 100 receptions. In two of those seasons, Thomas led the NFL catches which included a record 149 in 2019.

A healthy Thomas mixed with Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and newly acquired Bryan Edwards, the Saints have some pretty good firepower at wide receiver. Coupled with a good defense, and the retirement of Tom Brady, the Saints have a good shot of winning the NFC South and making the playoffs for the first time since 2020 next season.
