Report reveals that the New Orleans Saints may make one of the most surprising decisions in first round of 2025 NFL Draft

People love the NFL Draft due to the unpredictable nature and potentially franchise-changing outcomes that come with the simplicity of a phone call or split-second decision. For the New Orleans Saints, no one truly knows how they will navigate the 2025 NFL Draft under first-year head coach Kellen Moore.
The Saints often get mocked a quarterback in round one right now. For good reason, Derek Carr may never play for the team again.
That being said, a couple of prospects are reportedly elevating up the board. New Orleans may have interest in them, rather than some other popular connections made in recent months.
Mykel Williams and Colston Loveland
Mykel Williams, a pass rusher from Georgia, and Colston Loveland, the Michigan tight end, are both getting a lot of buzz during the week of the draft. Peter Schrager believes that these two prospects will go higher than mock drafts have them going recently.
Having spent the entire weekend on the phones, here are two names who'll go higher than where the consensus mock drafts have them going right now:
1. Mykel Williams EDGE 2. Colston Loveland TE
For New Orleans, pass rusher has gotten some buzz for them in round one recently. Todd McShay recently mentioned edge rusher as a round one possibility because they want to plan for life after Cameron Jordan retires.
That does make some sense, but I also think that the roster has more pressing needs than pass rusher at the moment. I'm not sure the Saints can afford drafting a prospect in round one who may not have a big role as a rookie.
They [the Saints] have an equally strong need on defense, and had a contingent of officials — including Moore, assistant general manager Jeff Ireland and defensive coordinator Brandon Staley — in Athens, Georgia, on Thursday to visit with defenders Jalon Walker and Mykel Williams, both of whom are projected to be first-round picks. — Schefter via ESPN
As for Loveland, he's one of the most polarizing offensive prospects in the class. He's a great athlete at his size and runs fantastic routes as a big tight end. New Orleans could pair him with Juwan Johnson at tight end, especially if Tyler Warren is off the board.
New Orleans' unpredictable nature for the draft
As I noted earlier on, the reports continue to fly for New Orleans' "interests" early in the draft.
Some analysts think that the Saints will pick a QB at ninth overall, even if it is not Shedeur Sanders. Meanwhile, others believe that offensive line is their biggest focus to kick off this year's draft. Of course, pass rush is another route.
Not to mention, the Saints still need more talent at cornerback. Will Johnson went to the Saints in a lot of mock drafts earlier in the process, but that trend has weakened in recent weeks.
No matter what – Kellen Moore has everyone thinking and re-thinking New Orleans' potential plan for the first round. Let's see how it all unfolds.
Deion Sanders potentially reveals a part of the New Orleans Saints’ 2025 draft plan and future at quarterback
Deion Sanders has been at the center of plenty of the discussions regarding the 2025 NFL draft. The Colorado head coach has been incredibly supportive of his son, Shedeur, the former starting quarterback for his Buffaloes. Shedeur is often mocked in the first round of mock drafts for this year's draft. He could even be […]
