The New Orleans Saints have kicked off a very important offseason for many reasons. Dennis Allen needs to right the ship. Derek Carr must improve under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. The defensive line has to take a step forward after additions during the draft and free agency.
All in all, the black and gold must find some new life. OTAs are one of the first key stepping stones for them and the rest of the NFL. These are often the first workouts and practices where much of the team is involved.
The latest from the Saints' 2024 OTAs
Derek Carr impressive so far in practice under Kubiak
Reports from the Saints camp have been gleaming for Carr so far. He looks poised and decisive in his first reps under his third OC in three years.
Carr was perfect in practice on Tuesday, and there's a lot of positives coming from the staff regarding Carr's preparation with a new staff in place.
Tanoh Kpassagnon will miss significant time after tearing Achilles
The veteran edge rusher is expected to miss, at least, part of the season for New Orleans. He was third in QB pressures in 2023 for the Saints defense. Tough blow early on for the unit.

Taysom Hill excited for challenge of new offensive role
Hill is being used at many different spots. He's been in the running backs room for film study sometimes. He's lined up at fullback for some drills and practice reps. He's also still retaining his tight end role, too. Kubiak is confident that he will play an important role for the Saints this season.

Jake Haener taking advantage of chance at backup QB role
Spencer Rattler has seen some rookie struggles over the past couple of weeks. Meanwhile, Haener has proven himself as a notable backup QB option once again for the Saints.
He was suspended for part of last year but made some intriguing plays in the preseason that got him some respect from fans. It will be intriguing to see how the backup QB job shakes out, but Haener has the upper hand for now.
