The New Orleans Saints started the season poorly, but because of a terrible division, are right back in the playoff picture after a shutout win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
The thing is though, that you can see this team improving every game, and when they get healthy you can't help but feel as if they will be the team we all thought they would be.
The offense is getting better, as they are still scoring with teams no matter who they are, and no matter who is on the field.
The defense is much better, as you can see they gave up a whopping zero points last week. One of the biggest things though is the offensive line and their pass protection. It is miles better than what it was at the start of the season.
"Yeah man, I think we have done a good job in the pass pro," offensive lineman Ryan Ramczyk said on Monday. "I think we have had great game plans going in, great protection plans each week.
"Both of our coaches have been doing a great job of getting us ready, and then obviously we have done a pretty good job of executing it. Communicating up front and making sure we are locked in. Every time we go out there, pick everything up that is thrown at us."
The All-Pro offensive lineman knows what he is talking about, too. The game plans have been better in that area, as you can see they prepared for a brutal pass rush last week.
Against Maxx Crosby, who is a top-five pass rusher right now, and Chandler Jones who has over 100 career sacks, the Saints' offensive line didn't allow a sack or quarterback hit. That alone should show you the major improvements made in that area.
The pass protection is also helping Andy Dalton, as they are giving him much more time to make smart passes, minus the Cardinals game, of course.
Now that this part of the process is fixed, and the Saints are only one game back of first place in the division, they can get healthy and make the push.
