The New Orleans Saints need another quarterback, badly. They now have the 29th pick in the draft from the Denver Broncos, so they could go get a guy at the end of the first round, or they could get one that has already proven himself.
If they go with that second option, it's looking like Derek Carr, the former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback, could be the guy. He has proven himself, is a former Pro Bowler, and is available, and could be available for cheap.
One Saints All-Pro in Demario Davis shared his thoughts on the situation on NFL Network recently.
"Man. One thing I know, Derek Carr is a great friend of mine," Davis said. "So any chance you get a chance to play with somebody that, you know personally off the field, you don't want to pass on those opportunities because you don't always get them. [He is] definitely a game-changing quarterback, who can come in and make our locker room better.
"And one thing I know about our organization is they're gonna do whatever they feel like it's best to put us in the best position to win. And so I trust them with that decision. Personally, I'm cool with whoever is out there. The guys that we have in our locker room are great friends of mine as well. But, adding firepower to the locker room can never hurt."
There are a lot of mixed emotions surrounding the possible decision to bring Carr in. But, if they were too, we know chemistry and locker room likely wouldn't be an issue.
Carr has won crucial games as a Raider, and while his time is ending there, he still has a ton left in the tank, and he is just a good dude. It's great to hear Davis say he would love having Carr.
