Saints’ Alvin Kamara surpasses Calvin Johnson, Ezekiel Elliott, and others in NFL history during latest performance
Kamara keeps taking steps forward.
Veteran players get opportunities for NFL history here and there. For New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara, he joined some elite names in recent league history with his performance in Week 4 against the Buffalo Bills.
The Saints came up short on the scoreboard, but it was another productive day for the long-time starter at RB and fan favorite for New Orleans.
Alvin Kamara takes another step forward in NFL history
According to Saints PR, Kamara has now totaled 11,846 scrimmage yards after the game against Buffalo. He’s passed legends like Calvin Johnson and Antonio Gates in that statistical department. As far as notable running backs, he also passed former Dallas Cowboys star RB Ezekiel Elliott on Sunday.
The long-time Saints star is known for his abilities on the ground and in the receiving game.
For years, he has been looked at as one of the most reliable pass catchers out of the backfield, and that began many seasons ago with Drew Brees and Sean Payton. Kamara has been a model of consistency, and no one has ever doubted his work ethic and effort.
Now, he’s gone through seasons with other quarterbacks like Teddy Bridgewater, Jameis Winston, Derek Carr, and now Spencer Rattler as his QB. All of those guys have had different skillsets and strengths, but Kamara has always remained resilient and consistent. He will certainly be in the franchise’s hall of fame when he hangs up his cleats at the end of his playing career.
Many fans are hoping he will never wear colors that aren’t black and gold. He even noted that he would love to remain in New Orleans for his entire career last season, but with the team’s continued struggles, it’ll be interesting to see if the Saints consider shopping Kamara on the trade market at some point. Only time will tell.
