Disaster struck during the Week 13 matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions. On a run by New Orleans, Alvin Kamara was pushed out of bounds. On the sideline, he collided with Nick Piazza, a member of the team's chain gang.

Piazza was noticeably injured, and it looked to be serious. Earlier in the week, we got an update on his status. Piazza suffered a fractured fibula and a dislocated knee, and surgery is necessary.

Alvin Kamara has made an awesome gesture for Piazza following the accident. He sent the sideline official a signed football and jersey.

Piazza has spent eight seasons with the Saints as a member of the chain gang. The players and coaches know him well, and they appreciate what he does for them weekly.

It was a life-changing moment for Piazza. His life flipped on its head in a matter of seconds.

Hopefully, Piazza will make a full and speedy recovery.
