Saints star teases the return of Michael Thomas to New Orleans with cryptic social media post
People are wondering now.
The offseason is always a great time for cryptic social media activity around the NFL. For the New Orleans Saints, they’ve felt that wrath plenty over the years. The latest one isn’t a negative one, though. Instead, Alvin Kamara made waves on social media for a different reason than frustration or a request from the organization.
Alvin Kamara posts story with former WR Michael Thomas
The star running back for New Orleans stirred the pot a bit on Saturday evening. Kamara posted an old picture of himself and Thomas on his Instagram story. Of course, that created plenty of discourse surrounding the former Pro Bowl wideout making a return to the NFL.
This sort of move would be surprising at this point of the offseason. Preseason play is over. Thomas has been out of the league for quite some time, and he has seemingly received little interest from other teams around the league since his departure from the Saints.
With a new coaching staff involved, the interest may be back from Thomas’ side if he still wants to try to play at the pro level. That being said, it is all speculation to this point. Not to mention, New Orleans just traded for Devaughn Vele, a big bodied wide receive option who will make the active roster for Week 1.
Thomas’ time with the Saints didn’t end on positive terms. Dennis Allen and his staff were not a good fit with Thomas, and both sides felt it was clear that there would not be a reunion. The injury saga for Thomas was a frustrating one for everyone involved, and ultimately, it may have ended his playing career.
Bringing Thomas back would excite plenty of fans, but it is more likely that Kamara was simply reminiscing the days where he and Thomas played for Sean Payton. Payton’s Denver Broncos beat the Saints in the preseason finale for both squads on Saturday.
