The New Orleans Saints and their fans certainly have a relationship with the league's officiating. There's been rough outcomes for the team, including the 2019 NFC conference Championship game. No one could forget that.

The Saints have hurt their own pockets in recent years as well. Unsportsmanlike conduct penalties can come with fines, and New Orleans has dealt with nine of those fines in the past five seasons. That total in money equates to $121,254. A large chunk of change for Saints players. The nine penalties is fourth-most in the NFL in that timespan.

Regardless of if folks agree with the unsportsmanlike calls, the Saints need to avoid the possibility of getting them. It's on both the players and the staff. Dennis Allen's first season as HC was especially sloppy from a penalty standpoint.

Going forward, keep an eye on this stat to see if the Saints can improve here.
