The New Orleans Saints pitched a shutout game on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, as they were able to score 24.

All aspects of the team were on point, ss the defense locked up, literally, and the offense produced big plays when they needed to most.

What we saw from the team on Sunday in Week 8, is something we expected to see when the season started. Just based on the roster construction, there were expectations that this Saints team could be dominant at times during the season.

Now, we are finally seeing it, because they were definitely dominant.

While the offense was great, and we will talk about them some more another time, the defense is what surprised me. They didn't allow a point, as we mentioned before, and only allowed 183 total yards.

There was one area of the defense though that played amazing, and could play like that every week if given the chance.

"Yeah I think, really that is what we are capable of," safety Tyrann Mathieu said when asked about not giving up a big play against the Raiders. "Obviously we are still missing a few pieces, but I think when we play loose, we play with our kind of style, when we are not pressing, I think mostly that's what we are capable of. I think this was just one game, but I think it was a good one for us."

This depleted secondary didn't give up any big plays to a receiving corps that featured Davante Adams, who is looked at around the league as the best receiver in it.

On Sunday, he didn't fit the description. But, then again, no one did.

That is just how dominant the defense was, especially the secondary. Imagine when this team gets guys back like Marshon Lattimore and others. This secondary can most definitely replicate games like this every week.

Now, is that me saying they will? No, because this is the NFL and nothing is certain. But, having performances like this in a pass-dominant league will definitely help them on their path to getting the first-place spot back in the NFC South.
