The New Orleans Saints (1-5) will face off with the Chicago Bears (3-2) in Week 7 of the NFL season. New Orleans was defeated by the New England Patriots in Week 6. Meanwhile, the Bears are coming off a primetime victory versus the Washington Commanders.

Chicago has won three games in a row, and both sides of the ball seem to be improving on a weekly basis for the Bears. For the Saints, their defense has gotten off to rough starts in most of their games this season, and that’s been proven lethal for their team as a whole. The Saints will need to get off to a quick start in Chicago in order to stay competitive against Ben Johnson’s team.

Saints-Bears game headlines

Revenge vs. Dennis Allen: The former Saints head coach will face the black and gold music this weekend. If this game was in New Orleans, I would expect even more energy surrounding it, but I do think the Saints will have additional motivation to earn a victory over a clearly-improved Bears squad.

Faster start for Saints defense: Over the past month, New Orleans has nearly regularly dug themselves a hole to dig out of in the first half. The worst performance was against the Seattle Seahawks, but the issues are stemming even to Week 6. Drake Maye recorded a perfect passer rating against the Saints in the first half. Brandon Staley’s unit needs to come out much quicker if the offense wants better opportunities to succeed.

Turning field goals into touchdowns: The Saints offense has not had issues gaining yards this season, particular in recent weeks. That being said, converting on third down often enough to keep drive alive once they get into their opponent’s territory has been a problem. Those points left on the board by consistently kicking (and sometimes missing) field goals inside the thirty-yard line must see a change.
