Long-time Saints fan favorite isn't ready to retire, but the team may make the decision for him

Retirement? A new team? Both have been topics of discussion regarding New Orleans Saints edge rusher Cameron Jordan over the past year. Jordan has had tough stretch in terms of production over the past two years in black and gold.
Is that all on him? Probably not. His play looked noticeably different this season once Dennis Allen and Todd Grantham were fired from New Orleans' coaching staff.
Jordan's playing time had decreased by the middle of the season, but he's played more often and better since Darren Rizzi took over. That being said, the defensive line play as a whole was not good enough for the Saints this season. It's a legitimate reason their defense has struggled quite badly at times.
Cam Jordan's future
The future Saints Hall of Famer could choose to retire, considering he is 35 years old. That doesn't sound like it'll be the case, though. At least, Jordan doesn't want to choose to hang up the cleats.
"…The Saints have been the only home I've known, so if you want to shut that door for me, you're going to have to shut it for me because I'm not going to do it to myself. As much as I bleed, I think I only bleed black and gold, but if you force me to go bleed somewhere else, a soldier fights wherever, whenever, however." — Jordan
From that statement, Jordan doesn't want to play elsewhere. He wants to retire as a Saint, just like star running back Alvin Kamara.
It is a two-way street. New Orleans will have to want the veteran lineman back. Regardless, the fans showed some major support for both Jordan and veteran linebacker Demario Davis after the team's final home game vs. Las Vegas. The two vets spent some extra time with them following the loss.
He also lingered on the field with his family long after the game ended. Saints players and their families gather on the field after every home game, but Jordan and linebacker Demario Davis, who is also 35, stayed on the field the longest, taking pictures together and hanging around until at least two hours after the game ended. — Katherine Terrell, ESPN
"The city of New Orleans has always rocked with us. Even in a piss-poor season like this one, there's still all … So I got nothing but love for it. So I was just trying to show a little appreciation and if it is the last one then I'm going to go out my way anyway…" — Jordan
We will see what the Saints and Jordan decide to do. He's a potential post-June 1 cut candidate for New Orleans, but there's plenty of moving parts that will lead to that choice in the coming months.
No matter what – Jordan is not ready to be done quite yet. He will always bleed black and gold. No fan could ever doubt that fact.
