The New Orleans Saints haven't had the season we have hoped for, but somehow, some way, they can still make it into the playoffs. Well, now their chances to make it just took a big hit after some recent news on Friday.

It's no secret that injuries have been the biggest kryptonite for the Saints all year. Sure, every team deals with injuries, but I think the Saints never really recovered from most of theirs.

It was much of the same story when the news dropped on Friday that safety Marcus Maye wouldn't be playing against the Philadelphia Eagles.

This is a huge hit, and frankly, it hurts their playoff chances.

The Eagles have one of the best receiving corps in the league in A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Quez Watkins, and if the secondary play isn't good, any of those three guys, or all three, could go off.

We saw it last week when the Eagles' top two receivers both went off for over 100 receiving yards, even with Gardner Minshew playing.

Not having Maye out there is going to really hurt the Saints.

This leaves P.J. Williams to start over Maye, who has played well this season but isn't the safety Maye is.

Maye and Mathieu have played well the last month, so Maye being out is definitely going to hurt the team.
