The New Orleans Saints got quite the scare at practice on Thursday. Rookie first-round offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga had to leave practice due to a back injury.

Luckily, it sounds like the young starter for New Orleans avoided a major injury. His status is not in doubt for Week 1, according to Saints head coach Dennis Allen.

Saints fans shouldn't be worried about Taliese Fuaga's injury

That is a sigh of relief for fans of the black and gold. The offensive line is already a major concern for the Saints entering the season.

Dennis Allen also says Fuaga will play this weekend if healthy.

They do not know their starter at left guard or right tackle at the moment. The position battles continue there, but Fuaga already locked down the left tackle spot for the offense in New Orleans.

Expect to see more of Landon Young this Sunday, as he attempts to prove himself as a young option on the offensive line. Trevor Penning needs a solid outing after some ups and downs in their first preseason game.

Fuaga had 12 pass-blocking snaps and allowed zero pressures in his first NFL game. The rookie tackle recorded a 77.2 pass-blocking grade via Pro Football Focus. New Orleans needs to be safe with Fuaga, avoiding risk in the preseason.

We will see if the projected LT starter for the Saints suits up this weekend against the San Francisco 49ers. Regardless, Allen does not believe that his back injury threatens his status for Week 1 of the regular season.
