The offseason is coming to an important point once again with OTAs kicking off and training camp around the corner. The New Orleans Saints got a key piece of their 2024 NFL Draft class locked in right before the weekend, though.

The Saints added a big-time talent to their defense in round two of the 2024 NFL Draft. Now, he's under contract.

The Saints signed second-round CB Kool-Aid McKinstry on Friday.

As the tweet notes, that's the entire draft class inked for New Orleans. 2nd-round picks are almost always the last to sign due to negotiations, but the two sides got it done for the defensive back.

McKinstry projects to get on the field in year one on both defense and special teams. He has return experience and can play inside and outside as a CB. His ceiling is quite high and could develop into a key piece for the Saints defense for years to come.

McKinstry, 5-11, 199, was New Orleans' second round pick (41st overall) out of Alabama. In three seasons (2021-23) with the Crimson Tide, he posted 92 tackles (61 solo), two interceptions and 25 passes defensed. In his two seasons (2022-23) as Alabama's primary punt returner, he returned 35 punts for 418 yards (11.9 avg).

The details of his deal are not known at this time outside of the term. It's a four-year contract for the rookie.
