Derek Carr's contract restructured
According to multiple sources, the Saints are restructuring Derek Carr's contract. There is not expected to be a pay cut for the veteran quarterback. Most of his deal with be converted to a salary bonus to create cap relief for the Saints.
According to Nick Underhill, the restructure of Carr's deal creates $30 million in cap space for New Orleans.
What does it mean?
Simply, Derek Carr is the starting QB for the Saints in 2025. Amid some discussions that Kellen Moore may want a new option to begin his head-coaching career, the Saints staff and front office doubled down on their comments from the NFL Scouting Combine.

Kellen Moore was noncommittal on Carr as the QB going forward during his introductory press conference with the Saints. That being said, there was a shift in dialogue from the new head coach and Saints GM Mickey Loomis last week.

Moore noted last week that he has met with Carr and feels fortunate to have him as a starting option going forward for New Orleans.
This money move by New Orleans clearly shows that they'll roll with Carr as their starting QB next season. Beyond that, the future remains to be seen at the position.
