The New Orleans Saints have a terrifying proposition right now. They sit atop the NFC South entering their bye week with a 5-5 record.

That being said, they've proven that they cannot beat teams with a winning record consistently this season whatsoever. That means that even if they grab a playoff berth, they will most likely have a quick exit.

The Saints have the weakest schedule in the NFL so far, and it's not particularly close. That's part of the reason that they've stayed somewhat afloat, amid inconsistent performances.

Their loss against the Minnesota Vikings symbolized their performance against winning teams for this season. They got down into a deficit that they simply couldn't fight out of against a well-coached squad.

That's been a trend this year. The defense has sputtered early on, and the offense can't keep up in the first half. In the second half of the Week 10 matchup, both sides of the ball look improved in the second half.

Plain and simple, that will not get them wins against the best teams in the NFC. It's barely getting them wins against struggling teams like the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, and Indianapolis Colts.

New Orleans has to make adjustments during and after their bye. It won't be easy after multiple impact starters suffered injuries in the loss to Minnesota.

In a season where they should be confident and productive, a sense of hopelessness surrounds the Saints and their coaching staff.
