The New Orleans Saints will seemingly miss two of their stars for another week in Week 18. Marshon Lattimore and Michael Thomas have been on the shelf for nearly two months.
That won't change against the Atlanta Falcons – it seems. According to Saints head coach Dennis Allen, Thomas and Lattimore have not made the progress that the staff hoped for when the two suffered their injuries.
Allen says that both are 'getting closer' to returning, but it's the final week of the regular season. They've ran out of time, potentially.
For New Orleans, their secondary has played well in most weeks without Lattimore, but he is a top five cornerback in football. His impact is clear, and his presence makes players like Tyrann Mathieu and Paulson Adebo even better.
As for Thomas, players have stepped up in a major way during his absence. Juwan Johnson has had a couple of explosive weeks, and Chris Olave has been consistent while playing through sickness and injuries.
All in all, Allen admitted that he and the team's medical staff did not quite 'get it right' when it came to their projection for the two players' returns. There's no one to fault as that happens at times in the NFL, but it is definitely frustrating.
