There's no secret regarding New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr's health this season. He's been banged up.

After the Week 14 win against the Carolina Panthers, he revealed that he is up to three rib fractures this season.

Carr has also dealt with multiple concussions and shoulder injuries in his first campaign with New Orleans, too.

“The other two, no one even knew I played through them.” — Carr

With that comment, Carr made it known that he and the team weren't aware of two-thirds of the broken ribs until now. That's a bit alarming.

It's clear that Carr wants to leave it all on the field, but it also begs folks to question whether or not that he's the best option to start for the Saints. If he is dealing with that much pain, it has to limit him and his play.

There is no doubt about that. Plus, it will only make him more apt to try to avoid contact – even if that's not the best choice for the best offensive outcome on some plays.

Regardless, Carr deserves some respect for playing through the tough ailments. New Orleans needs him to be better if they want to get the NFC South crown, though. He did not play well for three quarters of the team's matchup against a lowly Carolina team.
