The New Orleans Saints just got another weapon for new starting quarterback Derek Carr, and it's one he knows very well.
Last week it was reported by Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football that the Saints had an interest in wide receiver Bryan Edwards, a third-round pick by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020. On Monday, they got the deal done.
Edwards spent his first two years in the NFL with Carr and the Raiders. As a rookie, he only caught 11 passes for 193 yards but he did score a touchdown. Year two is where Edwards showed some promise by logging 34 receptions for 571 yards and three touchdowns in 16 games with 12 starts.
In 2022, Edwards was traded along with a seventh-round pick for a fifth-rounder to the Atlanta Falcons. The experiment didn't last long as Edwards played in just seven games (one start) and tallied a pedestrian three receptions for 15 yards before being released last November.
Four days later, Edwards was signed to the practice squad of the Kansas City Chiefs but was released in January.
Reunited with Carr, it'll interesting to see if Edwards earns a roster spot and can find a role alongside Michael Thomas, Chris Olave, and Rashid Shaheed.
