The New Orleans Saints flirted with the idea of trading up or down in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. In the end, they stayed at pick 29 after seeing how the board was falling for them. The Saints address a massive need with a prospect that possesses tons of upside.
New Orleans selected Clemson defensive lineman Bryan Bresee with the 29th overall pick.

Bresee is a physical specimen that proved to be elite in the ACC for Clemson. He exploded onto the scene in 2020 as a freshman for the Tigers. That season, he totaled 4 sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss. It was his most production season as he battled some injuries and personal obstacles during his final two years at Clemson.
His talent is undeniable, though. Before this past season, many believed that Bresee would be a top ten selection in this year's draft class.
Burly but athletic interior tackle who plays with a strong desire to get past the man in front of him. Bresee rarely gets caught up in long block engagements and possesses a deep anchor to battle double teams. He operates with subtle hand fighting that helps puts pressure on blockers but currently lacks the rush sophistication and shed technique to make more plays in the backfield. If he can stay healthy and gain much-needed experience, Bresee should continue to progress at his position and become a good run defender with an ability to disrupt the pocket within his first few NFL seasons. — Reuter
The former Clemson Tiger is an extremely smart rusher with an athletic build on the DL. He is an impressive run defender and has versatility on both the inside and outside. For the Saints, he has room to develop at the NFL level as he hasn't reached his physical ceiling yet.
Bresee was a very smart pick for the Saints. He will immediately play a role on their defense.
