The New Orleans Saints did not bring back Michael Thomas during free agency. That decision came after they gave the wideout a reworked, one-year deal for 2023. That contract became mostly a waste when Thomas started just seven games throughout the season.
Following the season, it was clear that a reunion was not on the horizon. Many folks thought he would latch onto another NFL team rather quickly, but nothing ever came to fruition earlier in the offseason.
It's unknown how much interest there was in the veteran wide receiver around the league.
Will Thomas join an NFL team before the regular season? Time is seemingly running out for him. The preseason is just over two weeks away. Training camp has already begun.
Michael Thomas remains unsigned during 2024 NFL training camp
The veteran wideout had multiple social media outbursts during the 2023 season, mostly regarding the Saints organization. He clearly was not happy with the coaching staff decisions, and there were medical disagreements during his time in black and gold, too.
Not to mention, Thomas took multiple low-key swipes at QB Derek Carr as well. Thomas has never been one to shy away from making his thoughts clear. That is not changing anytime soon, regardless of what team he plays for – if any.

Are his antics off the field costing him not? It is possible, but Thomas also simply has not been available in recent years. He may be asking for more money than teams are comfortable giving him, considering his injury history
Thomas played just seven games in 2020, then he missed all of the 2021 season for New Orleans. Between 2022 and 2023, he played in thirteen games in total for the Saints.
All in all, it's interesting that the interest in Thomas has not been loud during the offseason. He's been quiet on social media for the most part, and no teams have been strongly linked to him from any reports.
We will see if someone gives him an opportunity for 2024, but that premise is looking less and less likely as time passes. Thomas may have to ink a cheap deal with a team during the season, due to injuries to their WR corps.
