Free agency has been more active than many folks expected for the New Orleans Saints. While they were not overly active on the first two days of the process, they jumped headfirst into the pool during the second and third wave.

Saints' outlook for rest of free agency

What's next for New Orleans before the 2025 NFL Draft? I discussed three notable topics regarding what else Kellen Moore's team may do in the next month via free agency.

A signing at guard

As of now, the interior offensive line is a bit sparse. No offensive line position is further than two-deep, and no clear starter is set for the left guard position. At every other spot along their OL, the Saints probably have in mind a clear starter.

They cannot rely on Nick Saldiveri as their top option at LG, considering his lack of experience and multiple injuries so far in his pro career. Their only interior offensive line addition is Will Clapp, and he's been a career backup. The Saints met with OG Dillon Radunz last week.

I do think that adding another veteran guard will happen for New Orleans. It is simply too much of a need to place that sort of pressure on themselves early in the draft.

Secondary is set

I do not think another veteran addition in the secondary is coming for the Saints before the draft. They signed Justin Reid to start at safety opposite Tyrann Mathieu. Isaac Yiadom was brought back to play a role at cornerback.

CB could be a potential target early in this year's draft for New Orleans. That being said, adding another free agent piece in that part of the defense feels unlikely as of now. All of this is fluid, but that's the vibe for now.

Potential linebacker addition

After Willie Gay Jr.'s departure, this is on my radar a tad bit more. Gay Jr. did not play a massive defensive role last season, but he was still an option for much of the season as an experienced player.

Grabbing a depth linebacker during this stage of free agency will be cheap and short-term. That's a perfect blend for what New Orleans needs behind Demario Davis and Pete Werner. Makes plenty of sense for the Saints.

We will see how the Saints navigate free agency in these final weeks ahead of the draft. There are some intriguing avenues for them to choose from to improve their roster's depth.
