It's no secret that the New Orleans Saints are intrigued by adding even more wide receiver depth. Their WR depth chart is good, but it involved plenty of risk. Michael Thomas hasn't stayed healthy in three years, and there's a lot of pressure on young Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed.
They didn't address the position in the NFL Draft until day three with A.T. Perry. He looks like he'll make the roster, but more talent at WR would be helpful for new QB Derek Carr. The Saints have been in rumors regarding Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow. That would cost them a chunk of cap space, though. Luckily, they may get another chance to grab a wideout for a cheaper price..
Jackson State WR Malachi Wideman will be available during the supplemental draft in July. He recorded twelve touchdowns as a freshman. He was a three-sport star when leaving high school, so his athletic profile is incredibly impressive. NFL teams will assuredly have some interest in him.
Wideman would be a cheap option for New Orleans with some exciting upside. Keep an eye on this situation moving forward.
