The New Orleans Saints have their Week 8 opponent the Las Vegas Raiders on edge about a potential problem they may have.
We still don't know who will start for the New Orleans Saints at quarterback. Will it be Andy Dalton, who, besides the two pick six's, actually played well? Or will it be Jameis Winston, who is the starting quarterback but has dealt with injuries?
We don't know, and neither do the Raiders. I look at this as somewhat of an advantage for the Saints, even though it is a problem in a way. The Raiders don't know who to prepare for, at all.
But, when one Raiders coach was asked about the situation, he seemed to be on edge about how they would prepare.
"Each week is difficult, just in general, just preparing, but you know we always have to take into account the backup quarterback when we go through the process," Raiders' defensive coordinator Patrick Graham said on Tuesday. "
So, you know we allocated a certain amount of time for who we think is going to be the starter, then we allocate a certain amount of time for the backup because, you know, in the blink of a moment, you know second, play Derek [Carr] was down for one play, you know, you never know what is going to happen. That is just the game win you are dealing with a collision sport like this. Again, every week is difficult, we are always preparing for whoever is on the roster, so, does it add to a certain level of difficulty, maybe? But, you know, that's how we prepare."
Graham claims that they would be alright, and it is just like any other week, but I don't think so. I honestly think this quarterback problem that the Saints now have, can be used as an advantage on Sunday against the Raiders.
Whether it is Winston or Dalton, the Raider still won't know until closer to game time who the quarterback is, no matter how they prepared. That is just what it is.
While I don't think the Saints would do this, it would be hilarious to see Taysom Hill start at quarterback and just completely throw off the raiders and everything they game-planned for.
For now, though, the Saints will be putting together a game plan that will completely take away anything the Raiders think they prepared for, and I am here for it. Let's just hope they can translate it into a win.
