Injuries have been a plague for some of the top players for the New Orleans Saints in 2022. Wideout Michael Thomas is a part of that group.
Unfortunately, missing time has become a pattern for Thomas over the past few seasons.
As formerly one of the top wide receivers in the league, he seemingly cannot stay healthy long enough to showcase his talent recently.
Multiple injuries have kept him off of the field, and Saints' head coach Dennis Allen has done little to update fans about his status.
There has been a lack of a timetable for Thomas for weeks now.
At first, Allen said that Thomas was progressing well. It seemed like he could be back sooner than later for the Saints' offense.
Instead, there have been few updates from Allen, or anyone else, about his injury or return.
This situation for the Saints is quite odd.
Normally, a coach or staff member would be able to give a conservative timeline for a star player's return to the field. At this point, it seems like Allen doesn't even know how long Thomas will miss.
The Saints did not place Thomas on injured reserve, but he last played on September 25th. That means that the medical staff probably felt that he could return within the four weeks that IR would have forced him to miss.
Clearly, they were wrong or misled.
When Thomas played for the Saints early in the season, he looked great.
Now, questions continue to pile up regarding if we will even see him play again this season. The Saints' HC isn't giving any useful answers, either.
