The New Orleans Saints made a surprising move on Tuesday. they brought back veteran tight end Jimmy Graham on a one-year deal. His first tenure with New Orleans didn't end on the best terms, but bridges were clearly never burned.

Now, after taking last year off, he is ready to produce for the Saints this season. Graham is 36 years old and will fill the role of a depth TE for New Orleans. Head Coach Dennis Allen explained why the Saints made the move during media availability earlier today.

The Saints believe that he is in great shape. He is certainly not the athlete that he was in his early days with the Saints, but he's stayed very committed to getting back on the field after not playing in 2022. That's a great sign, and Saints fans are excited to have him back in black and gold.

"I think this was the one place the Jimmy was interested in returning to and continuing to play." — Allen regarding Graham

Graham was a beacon in the red zone for New Orleans during his time with the team. Allen mentioned that the team will have a special role for Graham this year. Could he and new QB Derek Carr create an impressive touchdown connection, too? Only time will tell.
