The New Orleans Saints front office has seemingly already made their largest decision of the offseason. Meanwhile, Week 18 looms, and the team still as a chance at a postseason berth.
According to Saints insider Nick Underhill, Dennis Allen's job is safe as New Orleans' head coach.
His statement backs up the previous comments from NFL insider Ian Rapoport over the past couple of weeks. Rap has said that barring major disasters in the final weeks of the regular season, Allen is in a 'good spot' regarding his future with the Saints.
Is that the correct decision? It's tough to argue that it is. Allen is 15-18 as the Saints HC and 23-46 overall in his 69-game career in the NFL. His team has disappointed this season in relation to their expectations and talent on the roster.
That being said, offensive staff changes are expected. Especially if the Saints do not make the playoffs, moving on from offensive coordinator Pete Carmciahel Jr. is certainly on the table.
Other adjustments to the offensive staff will be possible as well. Allen may make small changes to the defensive side, but that is less likely right now.
Regardless, as of now, Dennis Allen is seemingly going to be the Saints head coach in 2024.
