The New Orleans Saints continue their search for a new offensive coordinator. For the first time in nearly two decades, they need a replacement.
One of their candidates is former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. According to Albert Breer, he is getting a second interview with the Saints.
Getsy was the QB coach and passing game coordinator in Green Bay when Aaron Rodgers won back-to-back MVPs with the Packers before going to their division rival. He was fired by the Bears after this past season.
For New Orleans, Getsy is far from the top or most exciting candidate.
He has more experience than some of the finalists, but taking a chance could pay off for New Orleans.
Getsy's offense in Chicago was among the worst in the NFC for most of the 2023 season. They did show flashes later in the year, but that should not be enough for him to earn the Saints OC job over some of the other candidates.
Overall, the Bears passing attack was not up to par. They ranked 27th in pass yards per game. Their running attack with a mobile QB in Justin Fields was better, though. The Bears ranked 2nd in rushing yards per game. That being said, the personnel in New Orleans does not really align with the style of offense he ran in Chicago.
His prior work with the Green Bay offenses may pinpoint the type of scheme he'd run if he got the Saints job, but it is unknown what that would look like in New Orleans.

Getsy will get another opportunity as an offensive assistant somewhere, but New Orleans should probably look elsewhere at OC.
