Jamaal Williams contract: Details on three-year deal revealed
It didn’t cost the Saints much to acquire ex-Lions running back Jamaal Williams.
The New Orleans Saints added more firepower to the offensive backfield when they signed running back Jamaal Williams on Wednesday to pair him with Alvin Kamara.
On Thursday, the full details of his contract came out.
Williams got a three-year deal for $12 million with a $3.9 million signing bonus and $8.15 million in guaranteed money.
Here's the breakdown of his base salary and cap hits:
2023: $1.1 million; cap hit $1.88 million
2024: $3.15 million (fully guaranteed, roster bonus $700k); cap hit $3.93 million
2025: $3.15 million; cap hit $4.63 million
2026 and 2027 are voidable years.
Williams had his best season in 2022 with 1,066 rushing yards and a league-leading 17 rushing touchdowns. Depending on what happens with Kamara's legal issues, Williams could be the lead back for the Saints for a portion of the 2023 season.
