New Orleans Saints backup quarterback Jameis Winston is always full of emotion. When asked about some college football action, he was quick to discuss the Heisman Trophy for this season.
Winston won the 2013 Heisman Trophy as a member of the Florida State Seminoles. He was the 11th player in team history to have his jersey number retired.
Jameis Winston named his Heisman candidates for this year's trophy, and LSU QB Jayden Daniels is one of his finalists.
Winston did not choose a technical 'favorite' – but he wanted to shine light on some players that he felt were at the top of CFB right now. He named four of the top quarterbacks in the country as Heisman potentials in discussions with Nola.com’s Rod Walker and FOX 8’s Sean Fazende..
- Michael Penix Jr. (Washington)
- Jayden Daniels (LSU)
- Jordan Travis (Florida State)
- Caleb Williams (USC)
Daniels is catching plenty of fire as the potential winner of the award. Williams' USC team has seen too many struggles for him to win, but he has impressed Winston.
Penix Jr. and Travis have both been the QB for top 6 teams in the country. Travis did sustain a season-ending injury this past weekend for FSU, unfortunately.
The current betting favorites to win the 2023 Heisman Trophy are Daniels and Oregon quarterback Bo Nix. It just depends on which place you look.
