The New Orleans Saints brought back a franchise legend in 2024. Jimmy Graham wore the black and gold one again, a combo that he never should have changed out of earlier in his career. Regardless, he made it clear that he never wanted to leave New Orleans.

Jimmy Graham says what Saints fans have thought for years

"If I didn’t get traded, things would have been mental" — Jimmy Graham via Twitter/X

Of course, by mental, he means quite great for both he and the Saints. Graham is the best tight end in Saints franchise history. He was one of the top tight ends of the past decade in totality around the NFL, too.

His red zone production was incredibly impressive. Now, it seems like he will retire as a Saints – as he should.

That being said, a retirement decision hasn't been made quite yet by Graham. He's  had a busy summer outdoors, accomplishing a plethora of feats. All he knows right now is that he will retire in black and gold when he does.

"I'm gonna reach out to the Saints and figure out what's best, and then make the decision on when it's best for me to retire."

"I just want to make sure when I retire, it's as a Saint, and it's when they want me to. I'll just make sure I give them a call and see exactly when they want me to retire and then I'll end up doing it."

No matter what – Graham's latest statement is one that may bring a tear to the eye of some fans. Many are still a bit perturbed that he ever wore another uniform in the NFL.
