The New Orleans Saints will have a special moment on Sunday for their Week 1 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

Former Saints safety and franchise legend Steve Gleason will be an honorary team captain for New Orleans. He will join former Titans linebacker Tim Shaw in the role. Both of them are battling ALS.

According to Adam Schefter, both head coaches agreed on the decision. It's an awesome gesture by both sides. It is vital to bring awareness to the disease.

“The hope is for Sunday’s display of unity to bring support for those living with this disease and to encourage the continuing research needed in pursuit of a cure.”

New Orleans Saints regarding the decision

Both former players will make an appearance for the coin toss before the noon (CT) kickoff between the Saints and Titans.
