The New Orleans Saints have agreed to terms with defensive back Lonnie Johnson Jr. Johnson is an experienced player at multiple positions in NFL secondaries. In four seasons, he has nineteen starts, three interceptions, and 183 tackles.
The DB explained why he chose to join the Saints defense for the foreseeable future.
"The way they play aggressive. Trying to get after the ball. Everybody's on the hunt. You see all 11 hats to the ball. There's no loafing, everybody's just trying to get there. Get to attacking the ball, trying to create turnovers, trying to create points and trying to do everything possible to win a game. And you can feel that through the TV. You can feel that through the crowd. I know the energy in here. I can feel the energy walking around here today. So I'm just trying to do my part and bring my energy the way I play the game, the way I approach the game and bring all of that to this team, too"
Johnson clearly believes in the type of defense that the Saints play. He believes that his play style aligns well with Dennis Allen's philosophy.
That's good news for New Orleans. He will be an important role player that can provide some versatile depth for the Saints.
Hopefully, the Saints can provide him with an opportunity to truly flourish.
