The New Orleans Saints finally hit a bit of a wall. They lost to the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 15-12. They now sit at 2-1 after three weeks of play in the 2024 NFL regular season.

The offense sputtered consistently, and the defense made a mistake in crunch time that gave Philly a heartbeat.

Derek Carr injured on final offensive play

Carr was noticeably shaken up after taking a hard hit on the final play for the Saints offense.

There was no injury update from Dennis Allen postgame, but Carr said he was "fine" after the game. He said that he got the wind knocked out of him and needed a second to recollect himself.

We will see if he is on the injury report this week, but Carr seemed confident in his outlook for next week.

Erik McCoy dealing with injury

McCoy is arguably the Saints' best offensive lineman. He's been impressive this year. Losing him was a major blow for New Orleans' offense because the interior of Philly's DL wreaked havoc for much of the second half.

It's a groin issue for McCoy. He was labeled as questionable but did not return after leaving with the injury.

For the Saints, they will hope that it is a short-term issue for their top OL piece. If he has to miss time, expect Lucas Patrick to start at center. Oli Udoh moved to guard to replace Patrick there.

Saints secondary makes major mistake late in game

On a pivotal 3rd and 16 with Philadelphia needing a score, the Saints made a massive blunder. Two defensive backs collided, causing tight end Dallas Goedert to get wide open and pick up a huge chunk gain.

The Eagles scored on the following play from inside the five-yard line to take the lead and ultimately, the win.

The Saints will face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4.
