The New Orleans Saints are back to their old ways.
No, not their ways of the mid-2010's. That team was dynamic and explosive. Effort was never questioned.
Instead, they shifted back to the team they were just a few weeks ago.
The run defense was horrible, and the offense never got going at all.
Third down blitzes decimated the Saints on offense consistently, and the Ravens converted way too many of their third downs.
Worst of all, the Saints suffered more important injuries on both sides of the ball.
Werner left the game in the third quarter.
It was a non-contact injury, and Werner struggled to the sideline.
Werner has been one of the best players on an inconsistent Saints' defense. He and Demario Davis have been the only constant in the front seven.
Werner leads the team in tackles. Losing him for any span of time would be crushing.
Taylor has been a rookie breakout in the secondary for the Saints.
As a fill-in for Marshon Lattimore and Bradley Roby, Taylor has been an exciting piece at defensive back. He played really well against Davante Adams last week.
Losing him would deplete the thinnest position for the Saints even more.
On offense, Erik McCoy went down with an injury.
He made it a trio of lower body injuries for three of the top talents active for the Saints. McCoy and Ryan Ramczyk are the best offensive linemen on the team.
Now, they could be without one of them. That would force Cesar Ruiz back to center.
He played there for much of last season.
An "L" in the loss column is always a bad thing.
Losing multiple starters on one of the most injured teams in the NFL just rubs salt in the wound for the Saints.
