The New Orleans Saints haven't had the best luck on the field over the past few seasons with 2020 being their last playoff appearance.

This made the Saints eligible for one of the more unique opportunities in the NFL.

Every year, HBO does a series called 'Hard Knocks' which gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at a specific team during their training camp and preseason activities as they prepare for the 17-game grind of the regular season.

The criteria that are required to be selected are that a team can't have a first-year head coach, produced any playoff berths over the previous two years, or have an appearance on the show over the last 10 years.

It came down to the Washington Commanders, Chicago Bears, New York Jets, and the Saints. The league decided to take the Jets who have future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers on their roster now so this choice isn't too surprising.

This would have been the first time the Saints made an appearance on the show. For the Jets, it's their second, with the first coming in 2010.

Seeing as the qualifications for making Hard Knocks require a team that's coming off a not-so-successful season, the Saints might not want to be eligible for this chance any time soon although it is a cool perspective for the fans to see.
