During the days of Drew Brees, the offense was at the forefront when it came to the New Orleans Saints. Last season, they weren't a good team overall, but their defense was elite, thanks to guys like cornerback, Marshon Lattimore, at least for a bit.

Lattimore suffered a lacerated kidney last season which limited to just seven games. However, besides 2022, Lattimore has had over 50 tackles and at least 11 pass breakups every season he's been in the NFL (he was drafted in 2017).

These days, Lattimore gets to battle quarterback Derek Carr in practice, and he's already made an impression on him.

"He's one of the top corners," Carr said on Tuesday. "You can sit up there and put rankings, and everyone loves to put on Instagram and get attention, who really cares? He's one of the top corners in the NFL. He's an elite corner.

'I think his overall competitiveness, his tenacity, his drive, I think that's what separates him. You just watch him today, he just competes. A lot of guys are very talented but they don't compete the way that he does. He's talented and he competes that way."

Lattimore has been named a four-time Pro Bowler due to his instincts with 14 career interceptions plus his versatility having played 4,200 snaps as an outside cornerback, 264 in the slot, and even eight reps at free safety. He can get down with the big boys also with 263 snaps in the box and 27 on the defensive line.

Despite his limited playing time last season, Lattimore was still recognized as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL a few weeks ago. If a healthy campaign in 2023 is in the cards for him, which the Saints certainly hope is the case, Lattimore will continue being a high-level player in the secondary.
