The New Orleans Saints need Trevor Penning to step up. If Ryan Ramczyk cannot play in 2024 or is limited, Penning could be asked to start at one of the tackle spots. rookie Taliese Fuaga is expected to start at OT opposite of the other starter. The Saints were aggressive in their pursuit of Penning during his draft, and now, they need him more than ever.

Saints OL coach John Benton had a positive report on Penning on Tuesday at OTAs.

Benton also noted that the plan was to move Trevor Penning to right tackle regardless of if the Saints picked Taliese Fuaga. Fuaga has been taking reps at LT to protect Derek Carr's blindside.

Saints head coach Dennis Allen also mentioned Ramczyk. He does not expect to get an update on the veteran's status until training camp. They are letting him try to work his way back and receive the best evaluations for his future possible.

Regardless, Penning will play a role in 2024. He needs to show a lot more than he has over the past couple of years. Staying healthy will be a massive piece to that pie.
