The New Orlean Saints recently made a decision that may have shocked the fan base and locker room. It is fair to say the season hasn't really started the way they expected, and injuries have been one of their worst enemies, but they have a chance to get back on track.
This Sunday, in Week 8, they will play the Las Vegas Raiders, who also only have two wins, and have had their fair share of struggles. However, they are better than people think.
Last week Andy dalton started against the Arizona Cardinals, and had a decent game, despite the three turnovers, with two of them being pick sixs. Jameis Winston was out with an injury but appears to be healthy now. Even still, the coaching staff decided to make dalton the starter for Week 8.
The players in the locker room seem happy with the decision, especially rookie receiver Chris Olave.
"We have a couple of games under our belt," Olave told the media on Wednesday. "I feel like we are getting better each week, so he has maintained offense, ran the offense real good. I feel like he is poised back there, and he gives the offense a lot of confidence."
Olave was then asked if the receivers get asked about who should start, and he still had nothing but positive for Dalton.
"No, not at all," Olave chuckled. "I feel like it's a business decision. He has been playing good ball, and they are both really good quarterbacks, so I know it is a tough decision up there but I feel like Andy [Dalton] is a good choice. I feel like Jameis will be back soon."
The Saints made a big decision, and the players seem happy with it, despite how the team is playing as a whole. You love to see this going into the game against the Raiders.
The team seems together despite the way the season has started and the way players are coming in and out. Maybe, just maybe, this is a good sign they are ready to start heading back in the right direction.
