The New Orleans Saints are gearing up for an NFC South matchup in Week 9. They'll face the struggling Carolina Panthers, looking to end a six-game losing streak. The Panthers have lost their last five as well.
On Saturday, New Orleans made quite a few key decisions for their roster going forward.
Saints place Kendre Miller on IR
New Orleans placed running back Kendre Miller on injured reserve on Saturday. Miller missed the first six games of this season due to a hamstring injury. Now, he is dealing with an issue to his other hamstring.
Miller played in just eight games as a rookie in 2023. Injuries have been costly for the running back since his college days, where he tore his ACL to end his cplaying days at TCU.
Miller would have played a key role for New Orleans' offense going forward behind Alvin Kamara. Now, the Saints will have to look towards Jordan Mims and Jacob Kibodi as potential depth. Taysom Hill may get more run in the backfield, too.
They also placed rookie WR Bub Means on injured reserve. He will miss at least four games as well.
Multiple moves before Week 9
The Saints signed cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles, running back Jordan Mims, and safety Millard Bradford to the active roster. They are without their top three outside cornerback options and two running backs this week, so these moves make sense.
New Orleans waived interior offensive lineman Kyle Hergel. The Saints also elevated veteran safety Roderic Teamer and cornerback Tre Herndon from the practice squad. They will play a role on Sunday against Carolina.
