The NFL is full of opportunity. For the New Orleans Saints, injuries have presented plenty of opportunities for different players.

Rookies as well as preseason standouts are getting ample playing time. A couple of new injuries at wide receiver are opening the door for WR Kirk Merritt to step in.

The Saints are signing him to their active roster.

Chris Olave is out with a hamstring injury. Jarvis Landry was placed on injured reserve with a new injury as well.

That means the Saints' depth at wide receiver will be tested again. Expect Marquez Callaway and Rashid Shaheed to headline the group. Tight end Juwan Johnson will be involved, too.

The Saints may look to get Merritt some meaningful snaps as well, though. He showed flashes during the preseason, and his athleticism is clear.

The Saints will certainly have a run-heavy game plan during their game against the Browns this weekend due to the frigid weather.

The passing offense cannot be stagnant all day, though. Merritt will get another shot to prove he deserves to keep a roster spot going forward.

Keep an eye on him for the Saints.
