The New Orleans Saints failed to extend their winning streak to three in Week 13. They fell to the Los Angeles Rams, mostly due to weak run defense and inconsistent offense.
New Orleans had a chance to tie the game in the final couple of minutes of play, but they came up short in the red zone.
Carr's struggles on final drive
According to WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling, the Saints audibled on the final fourth down that they failed to convert. Quarterback Derek Carr swapped to a play to beat man coverage, but the Rams were in zone coverage.
Derek Carr also told Darren Rizzi that there was a guy open in the end zone, but he did not get the ball off in time. It fell incomplete as he got hit.
It's my fault man. I just wish I could have got the ball off." — Carr
After the game, Carr said that the locker room was angry, but he could not use the actual word to describe the mood of the locker room afterwards. He felt that his mom would get mad if he did.
Carr had some nice downfield throws and a key scamper during the second half of Sunday's game, but he and the offense ultimately came up short once again.
There's no doubt that injuries are hindering their upside, but regardless, New Orleans did not find a way to win a game that they nearly had to win in order to stay alive for the postseason race.
