The New Orleans Saints received some news from the NFL on Wednesday.
The league announced a six-game suspension for rookie quarterback Jake Haener. According to the NFL, Haener violated the league's performance-enhancing drugs policy. Since the announcement, Haener has released a statement regarding the decision.
Haener says that he was not aware of any illegal substances entering his body at any point. If true, it is a very tough break for the former fourth-round selection from the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Saints will look to Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill as the other two quarterbacks on the roster. New Orleans could potentially sign another QB to the practice squad, too.
Haener will not count against their 53-man roster while suspended.
